Julienne Baron

Commercial lawyer with 30 years' M&A experience

Julienne has 30 years’ experience in negotiating mergers and acquisitions and commercial transactions. She has supported portfolio activity from concept to completion in more than 45 different countries with exposure to many different legal systems and business cultures globally. She has worked on both private company and public company transactions and negotiated with multinationals, trading houses, private equity, governments, international organisations, family owned companies, major resource holders and entrepreneurs throughout Europe, Russia, the United States, Asia, the Middle East and Africa.

Julienne started her career in private practice in Australia, worked as foreign counsel in Jakarta in the late 1990s and joined the legal department of a multinational corporation in London in 2000 where she worked for 22 years, specialising in acquisitions, divestments and joint ventures. Julienne managed a team of in-house counsel and also developed and delivered M&A training programs for legal, finance and commercial colleagues. Julienne currently assists a range of companies and members of their boards in Europe and Asia in the manufacturing, infrastructure, food, technology, energy and renewables industries on all different stages of transactions, including: bidding strategies, navigating regulatory frameworks in acquisitions and divestments, upfront risk assessment in preparing businesses for sale, pursuing efficient due diligence processes, selection of counsel across different jurisdictions, preparation and framing for commercial negotiations and assurance reviews prior to signing transactions. Julienne’s current practice also includes designing and delivering bespoke M&A training to multidisciplinary groups of M&A practitioners within companies on all stages in the M&A lifecycle.

Julienne has a Bachelor of Arts (majoring in Indonesian language) and a Bachelor of Laws from Monash University, Melbourne. She is admitted as a lawyer in England and Australia.
